Mobile Empowerment Initiative
ITAVAC's Mobile Empowerment Initiative (MEP) is a Brooklyn-based technology access and digital skills program designed to bridge the digital divide for underserved community members in New York City.
Many families, youth, seniors, and underserved residents face barriers that prevent them from accessing critical support. Transportation challenges, lack of digital access, and economic hardship often keep people disconnected from life-changing opportunities.
The Mobile Empowerment Initiative changes that. Instead of waiting for the community to come to us, we are bringing empowerment directly to the people. Through mobile outreach, pop-up events, and workforce readiness workshops, ITAVAC meets people exactly where they are—in housing developments, community centers, shelters, and high-need neighborhoods.
What Your Support Helps Provide
MEP provides participants with hands-on training and direct access to the resources they need to succeed in work, education, and daily life:
Technology access: Laptops, tablets, Wi-Fi, and digital learning tools.
Digital literacy: Smartphone, device, and internet navigation training.
Career support: Workforce readiness workshops and resume building.
Community outreach: Pop-up events in underserved neighborhoods.
Targeted care: Women's re-entry services, youth tech programming, and wellness workshops.
Why This Matters
Access should not depend on income, transportation, or zip code. When people have access to technology and information, they are better equipped to apply for jobs, complete schoolwork, access benefits, and improve their quality of life.
This initiative is more than a program. It is a bridge—between need and opportunity, isolation and support, survival and self-sufficiency.
Who We Serve
MEP serves Brooklyn community members with limited access to devices, internet, or digital skills, including:
Adults seeking employment support.
Women reentering the workforce or seeking independence.
Youth building tech skills for school and careers.
Seniors navigating digital tools for the first time.
